* Pre-Departure Trip Cancellation and Post-Departure Trip Interruption Benefits ARE OPTIONAL BENEFITS that can be included only if elected and the appropriate premium paid. If you elect these benefits and insure an amount less than your total prepaid trip costs that are subject to cancellation penalties or restrictions, the maximum benefit for Pre-Departure Trip Cancellation and Post-Departure Trip Interruption is limited to amount of coverage purchased.

THIS IS A BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE PLAN. FOR FURTHER INFORMATION ASK FOR THE TRAVEL INSURANCE CERTIFICATE WHICH FULLY DETAILS THE COVERAGES, PROVISIONS, LIMITATIONS AND EXCLUSIONS OF THE INSURANCE OFFERED AND IS AVAILABLE TO YOU, UPON REQUEST, AT ANY TIME PRIOR TO YOUR PURCHASE OF THE PLAN.

Conditions and Limitations
Certain exclusions and limitations apply and are detailed in the Travel Insurance Certificate which will be included with your travel documents and is also available to you, upon request, at any time prior to your purchase of the plan. For example, coverage does not apply to any sickness or condition that existed during the 60 days prior to the effective date of the coverage (this exclusion is waived if your premium is received within 14 days of your initial deposit/payment for your trip and you are not disabled from travel at the time you pay your premium), suicide, normal pregnancy, war or any acts of war, mental or nervous disorders. Other Covered Events, as defined, include the following events or their consequences:
1) Post-Departure Trip Interruption due to cancellation of arrangements by an airline due to strike, mechanical breakdown of the aircraft on which you are scheduled to travel or bad weather (Maximum of $100 per day/$500 total, or 2) cancellation or interruption of your trip due to: a documented traffic accident while en route to departure; jury duty; destruction of your residence by a natural disaster; a documented theft of passports or visas; a Terrorist Act which occurs in your departure city or in a city which is a scheduled destination for your Trip provided the Terrorist Act occurs within 30 days of the Scheduled Departure Date for your Trip and your premium is received within 14 days of the initial deposit/payment for your Trip. Sickness or Injury must require examination and treatment by a Physician and must commence while insurance is in force for you. This plan does not cover a loss that results from an illness, disease, or other condition (of you, an Immediate Family Member, Traveling Companion or Business Partner), event or circumstance which occurs at a time when this plan is not in effect for you.

8.  NON-REFUNDABLE ADVANCE DOWN PAYMENT  (&)  LOC CANCELLATION POLICY:  There is a $200.00 non-refundable fee (payable only by money order or check – no credit cards, please) immediately effective on the date you submit this registration form, which covers your airline seat reservation and guarantees your space until full payment is received by February 1, 2008 (non-student travelers) or  March  1, 2008 (student travelers), the registration and payment deadline(s).  This $200.00 will completely apply to your final total payment but is not refundable under any circumstances.  IMPORTANT: the following cancellation fees will be applicable as per the schedule below. Please note these fees increase as the date of travel approaches. After your final payment has been received, an additional $200.00 cancellation fee for airline seat cancellation will apply in addition to the following cancellation fees. The number of days indicated below are the days prior to the departure date on your airline ticket:

14 -7 days.................................................................... U.S. $1000.00
6 days - 24 hours........................................................ 80% of Total Charge
Less than 24 hours or non-appearance.................. 100% of total trip charge

Once a ticket has been issued by the airline, all airline cancellation penalties will automatically apply as a requirement of that airline. These will be assessed in addition to all fees above. Attention: any refunds for airline tickets cancelled as a result of traveler trip cancellation will require A MINIMUM of three months from the date the airline receives back the original airline ticket. LOC will process the refund based on LOC cancellation policy only. Although airlines sometimes do not strictly adhere to their own refund policies, that is, take more than three months to make a refund, LOC will make any refunds from its emergency funds as a special gesture of friendship toward its guests.  This is a voluntary gesture made in the spirit of mutual respect and international goodwill. Written cancellation to LOC is always required to formalize any cancellation request. All optional activities are non-refundable from the date of payment.
